Simon is a down-to-earth employment lawyer who is reassuringly calm in a crisis. He is a big picture thinker who is also very detail oriented.
Simon works with HR teams, business leaders and boards to help them manage employment law risk and thereby provide peace of mind, whether in relation to day-to-day employee relations issues, or largescale strategic projects affecting the workforce, especially restructures, TUPE transfers and changes to terms and conditions of employment.
As a litigator (whether in the employment tribunal or in the High Court dealing with restraint of trade cases) Simon is pragmatic and always willing to explore dispute resolution at an early stage. However, he can be tough when needed and will always stand his ground.
Simon typically acts for large employer clients (often multinationals) across a range of sectors, including financial services, professional services, manufacturing and logistics. He regularly provides Board level advice (including to PLC main boards), but he is just as comfortable acting for owner managed businesses and start-ups, where his commerciality and business acumen often prove invaluable.
As well as advising businesses, Simon is regarded as a go-to lawyer for senior executives who are exiting an organisation under a settlement agreement. He always works hard for his clients to ensure that nothing is left on the table.
During his career, Simon has been a Partner in a leading international law firm and was an early adopter of the self-employed consultancy model. However, it is in the collegiality and camaraderie of a boutique HR Legal firm environment where Simon has found himself most able to flourish.
When not in work, Simon and his wife (who are now empty nesters) enjoy good food and good wine in the company of good friends. Simon is also a committed (and competitive) age group triathlete.
